Leipzig - Saxony's boomtown

Leipzig, often referred to as Boomtown or Hypezig, is a city that impresses with its diversity and wealth of ideas. The Saxon metropolis combines tradition and modernity in an impressive way and attracts numerous artists and creative people. A stroll through the city reveals a fascinating mix of culture and history. An outstanding example of Leipzig's cultural diversity is the former cotton mill. This area has developed into a center of contemporary art, home to over 100 artists' studios, galleries and stores. Internationally renowned artists such as Neo Rauch and Michael Triegel work here. The GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts is one of the leading museums in Europe and presents changing exhibitions on arts and crafts, design, photography and architecture. Equally impressive is the Gallery of Contemporary Art, which presents works from the period after 1945 in the former Herfurth Villa and promotes contemporary art. Another highlight is the Kunstkraftwerk, which has established itself as a hotspot for new media art since 2016. Leipzig is also known for its important events such as the DOK film festival and the Wave Gotik Treffen.
