Bad Elster's Royal Spa House is an outstanding architectural example of the Neo-Renaissance and still bears witness to the value of the spa town of Bad Elster today. The representative design of the entire complex impressively underlines the international importance and acceptance of the Saxon royal spa at the end of the 19th century. The Königliches Kurhaus Bad Elster was built between 1888 and 1890, the year of the German Three Emperors. The almost completely preserved design of the palace-like complex in the center of the royal grounds is a special feature and rarity of supra-regional value. The Königliches Kurhaus as a “Haus des Gastes” with its central location in the heart of Bad Elster opposite the venerable Albert Bad and the historic König Albert Theater is today, in addition to a contemporary event venue, above all an attractive congress and conference building.
With its combination of extensive historical parks and historically significant spa architecture and cultural buildings, the Königliche Anlagen Bad Elster offer a uniquely harmonious experience and recreational landscape that has been deliberately designed for this purpose for over 175 years. In the four central park areas of Bad Elster, the flair of a sophisticated spa in the atmosphere of a cultural and festival city, staged in masterful horticulture, awaits you with a special quality of stay and the combination of nature, culture and health. A visit to the Royal Gardens of Bad Elster is therefore an experience every day! The harmonious ensemble of a colorful sea of flowers, charming themed gardens and gems surrounding the gleaming historic buildings is a cultural legacy of Saxon history. A visit to the Bad Elster brine spa, the therapy and wellness center in the magnificent Albert Bad or one of the seven historic venues on the unique “festival mile of short distances” is an experience for all the senses.
A state-of-the-art lighting design that is unique in Germany also stages the Royal Gardens in a radiant world of light at any time of year! Numerous artistic illuminations creatively visualize the various historical park areas in a completely new dimension of experience: here the beauties of Bad Elster can be experienced in a completely new way in atmospheric places, through shimmering water features and in a glowing natural setting.
